Ms. Dieu Anh: Good morning Kent.
Mr. Kent: Good morning!
Ms. Dieu Anh: How are you today?
Mr. Kent: I’m good. Nice to be here.
Ms. Dieu Anh: Welcome to HCMC. This is the most boiling hot time of our city. Have you ever experienced this kind of weather?
Mr. Kent: I have ‘cause I’ve lived in Bangkok, so It’s very hot there now too. I have been here many years, in different time of the year. So, yes, it’s always nice to be back, even when it’s hot.
Ms. Dieu Anh: Can you introduce a little bit about yourself so our audience can understand and know about you?
Mr. Kent: Sure, I originally moved to Asia 26 years ago, in Hong Kong, at a time when Asia was on the boil, but it was very different in time and era. And I’ve spent last 26 years working in the region, a little bit on client side but mostly on the advertising side, last 17 years with Ogilvy. And I have been very lucky in my view to have been in Asia during the most fantastic time of transformation and growth.
I remember coming the first to Vietnam in late 1991 or early 1992 when VN was very different country, HCMC was a very different place. And to see amount of growth and change in our industry, in the country, in the economy, in the society during that time has been phenomenal. And you know, most that time, not all of it, but a large of portion of my time in Asia I’ve done my regional job, I have been very lucky to get to travel very frequently.
So you see the time when you travel, the changes, not just the physical changes, because obviously the landscape of many Asian countries has changed dramatically putting here what is how the society change, how the industry change, how young people business change and develop. It’s very exciting to see whole the new generation of young talent, especially in Vietnam. I’m always impressed when I come to Vietnam. A number of young, smart, switch people in the business and the question now for me is what do we go next for business?
